How to buy and sell treasury bills, bonds and STRIPS

This video demonstrates how to buy and sell fixed income securities, including treasury bills, bonds and STRIPS. Learn how to search and filter on criteria to find the security you want to buy or sell, then select your account and place your order.

1. Sign in to your account on a computer
2. Choose 鈥淭rade鈥�, then 鈥淔ixed Income鈥�
3. FAQs and helpful definitions are available if you have questions
4. To find treasuries, you can search by CUSIP number or choose 鈥淭reasury鈥�
5. Set filters like maturity date, or filter by type; choose 鈥淪ee results鈥�
6. You can sort by maturity date, yield to maturity, coupon and more
7. Choose 鈥淭rade鈥� to buy or sell, or pick a security for more information
8. You鈥檒l find details about the treasury, like the first and last coupon date
9. Choose 鈥淭rade鈥� to proceed, then choose an account
10. Choose 鈥淏uy鈥� or 鈥淪ell鈥� and put in a quantity, then choose 鈥淕et price鈥� (note the minimum quantity and increment)
11. Review the estimated order value and choose 鈥淧review鈥�
12. Review the details and choose 鈥淧lace order鈥�; note that fixed income orders are fill or kill, which means they fill completely or are canceled and cannot be modified once placed
