Ready or not, election season is here, and primaries are wrapping up as states like Iowa, Montana, and New Mexico gear up for their June 4th primaries. And every single vote matters. Because do you know what happens if you don’t vote? 

Well, a lot of things. But one of the most ridiculous? A coin toss could be used to decide an election. That’s right, coin tosses are still used in 40 states to resolve electoral ties. And this method was used as recently as last year. 

To put a spotlight on just how insane this practice is, IssueVoter, together with the community, created The Electoral Coins. IssueVoter is a nonpartisan, non-profit online platform dedicated to giving everyone a voice in our democracy.

The Electoral Coins are a commemorative, limited-edition coin collection designed to depict the important decisions we are leaving up to chance when our representatives are picked by a coin. They shine a light on an antiquated method that should be corrected; and, most importantly, aim to prove that every single vote matters.
