Electric Theatre Collective have bolstered its production team with the arrival of Renata Fabri. Renata joins Electric in the role of colour producer, and will coordinate projects for the studio's award-winning quintet of grading talent.

Originally from Brazil, Renata cut her teeth agency side, working at BETC, Havas and GUT São Paulo. But a trip to the UK as a child cemented a lust for London life, and 2020 saw her make the move to the UK, just in time for Brexit’s European immigration deadline and in the midst of a global pandemic… 

A role production side at Plastic Pictures followed, succeeded by a three year stint at Nomad specialising in colour and visual effects. During her career she’s produced campaigns for the likes of Apple, Google and Coca-Cola - but it’s the variety that really gets her going. 

“I love that no two days are the same”, Renata comments. ”One minute, you’re working on a mega global campaign. The next, you’re helping to craft something super niche and artistic. The work at Electric speaks for itself - insanely creative, beautifully crafted, and always pushing boundaries. It’s great to be part of a team that’s so passionate about what they do.”

Olly Whitworth, head of colour production, comments, “It’s been a really exciting year for Electric Colour. We’ve moved into a brand new space, added to our trophy cabinet, and welcomed some new faces. Renata’s arrival adds another chapter to the story and I couldn’t be happier that she’s here.”

In her own words:

Q> Why ETC? 

Renata> There are so many reasons! The range of amazing projects, the passion, the people. I’m looking forward to working with the talent here to bring these projects to life. 

Q> What did you want to be when you were a child? Was VFX always the dream?

Renata> Believe it or not, I wanted to be a Diplomat! I even studied International Relations and Political Science before realising that my real passion was in the creative world. So I made a sharp left turn into advertising, and I’m so glad I did.

Q> Name a piece of work you didn’t work on but wish you had?

Renata> So many! But if I had to pick one or two I'd say Little Simz’ ‘Point and Kill’ promo, and ‘The Big Christmas’ for Sainsbury’s - both are the kind of work that makes you stop, stare, and wish you had been part of the magic.

Q> Proudest accomplishment in your working life?

Renata> Probably making the leap from agency life to post-production and thriving in it! It felt like a big shift at the time, but it’s been such a rewarding journey. 

Q> What's your karaoke go to?

Renata> I’m not exactly known for my karaoke skills. But if I had to grab the mic, it would 100% be ‘Unwritten’ by Natasha Bedingfield. 

Q> Favourite pub in East London?

Renata> Tough one! There are so many great spots, but Birdcage is a solid choice - the perfect place to sit outside on a Sunday and watch the crowds at the flower market.

Q> Did you have any New Year's Resolutions - and have you stuck to them?

Renata> One of my top three was to read more books, and I’m off to a solid start - four down already! Let’s see if I can keep up the momentum for the rest of the year…

Q> What are you watching on the box at the moment?

Renata> Currently obsessed with ‘Severance’ and ‘White Lotus’. Who isn’t?!
