Celebrating 125 years of the DFB A campaign film from Jung von Matt Sports and The Sweetspot casts icons of German football in acting roles

The German Football Association (DFB) and long-time partner adidas are commemorating 125 years of the DFB with the release of a limited edition anniversary kit.

The kit revives that of the German men’s team in ‘74 – the legendary year they won the FIFA World Cup on their own soil. Its launch is marked by a campaign from Jung von Matt, titled ‘The Fabric of Legends.’

Produced by The Sweetspot and directed by Sinan Sevinç, a campaign film pays a celebratory tribute to the DFB’s 125-year history, casting icons from its past and present – including the likes of Jule Brand, Nia Künzer, Thomas Müller, Manuel Neuer, Rudi Völler, and Florian Wirtz – in acting roles. It playfully imagines the making of the anniversary kit, as workers in lab coats pick out the finest sartorial specimens of Germany’s footballing excellence to churn together into its final form.

The special collection can be seen in action for the first time on March 20th, worn by the men’s team during their UEFA Nations League quarter-final match against Italy in Milan. The women’s national team will be seen sporting the kit in April.
